Supporting Students with Autism K-6
Overview
The Supporting Students with Autism K-6 Workshop is designed to:
develop an understanding of the wide range of characteristics of students on the Autism Spectrum;
explore a range of strategies which address the needs of students on the Autism Spectrum in the areas of language and cognitive development, communication skills and social behaviour; and
develop specific strategies to help students on the Autism Spectrum access the curriculum, manage their own stressful reactions and modify their behaviours.
Participants will also:
Write a social story that addresses the individual needs of a student on the Autism Spectrum; and
develop an understanding of how to set up an effective learning environment for students on the Autism Spectrum.
Cost: $200
Accreditation
Completing a Supporting Students with Autism K-6 course will contribute 5 hours of NESA Registered PD addressing: 1.5.2, 3.5.2, 4.1.2, 6.2.2, 6.3.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

There will be a range of delivery methods which will include interactive lectures, group activities and individual development of teaching resources.
