Sonia Bertram is a Learning and Support Teacher at Murwillumbah High School. She has taught across a diverse range of educational settings: small K-6 schools; Support Units for students with mild, moderate and severe disabilities; Early Intervention programs; High School History/Geography/Maths/English; Tutorial Centre.
A member of her school's Learning Support and Welfare teams, Sonia has an affinity with those students that can appear as challenging in a classroom. She is currently trialling a model where mainstream students with extra needs are placed in a dedicated class for core subjects focussed on embedding basic literacy and numeracy across KLAs.
Sonia is secretary of Murwillumbah Teachers Association and has been an active member of the Federation for more than 10 years.
