Dr Pauline Jones is Senior Lecturer in Language in Education at the University of Wollongong where she teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in language and literacy. Her research interests include classroom talk, functional approaches to grammar and text, and teacher expertise with respect to literacy teaching. She has taught English and literacy to children and adults in Australia and overseas. Her most recent book – co-authored with Professor Beverly Derewianka – Teaching Language in Context (OUP 2012), offers an entry point for teachers wishing to come to grips with the model of language underpinning the new English curriculum. With other current publications, it includes examples of classroom practice drawn from several collaborative school-based research projects as teachers implement the curriculum.
