Dr. Angela Maharaj is a lecturer at the Climate Change Research Centre (CCRC) at the University of New South Wales, Australia and Associate Investigator with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate System Science. She holds a PhD in Atmospheric Science from Macquarie University, NSW, where she also previously held an academic position. Angela's science research is in understanding the role of the ocean in climate variability particularly through satellite oceanography. She also has strong interests in learning and teaching, STEM, and student engagement around meteorology, oceanography and climate science. Angela is the treasurer of the Australian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (AMOS) and chair of their Education and Outreach subcommittee. She has worked on university outreach projects with schools, AMOS outreach initiatives and has been a critical friend of the Earth and Environmental Sciences Olympiads exam run through Australia Science Innovations for the past three years.
