Darren Martin has been a primary school teacher in the Sydney South West region for 25 years. He has taught across K-6 and has developed interests in the area of environmental education, with a particular emphasis on food gardens, habitat creation and integrating sustainable practices in the classroom program.
In 2015, Darren worked at the Royal National Park Environmental Education Centre where he lead K-12 students on field trips, developed curriculum materials and consulted with classroom teachers. Recently, he has been able to share his passion for horticulture and permaculture practices by presenting key note speeches at kitchen garden workshops for teachers.
In 2014, Darren was selected to jointly lead a pilot program for the international program, Eco Schools. He presented at the national launch and provided support for teachers new to the program. He currently leads Eco Schools at his school.
