Sam Ferris is an English teacher at Barrenjoey High School in Avalon, NSW. After spending 10 years at university researching and writing in the field of literary studies, Ferris realised that he much preferred the atmosphere of the classroom and retrained as a teacher. Sam Ferris' academic research into the representation of masculinity in Australian literature has translated into an ongoing interest in the field of Boys' Education, where he has acted as Boys' Coordinator at his school and led Staff Development sessions dedicated to Boys' Engagement and Literacy. In his free time, Sam Ferris is an accomplished and internationally renowned photographer whose work has been published in numerous magazines and books, held in private collections, as well as exhibited in Europe, the US, the UK and Australia. He has presented workshops in both New York City and around Australia on the art of editing and visual storytelling.
