Participants in this course will deepen their practice in and reflection on:
Professional knowledge by designing differentiated strategies to meet the specific learning needs of all students in the class in reading and writing.
Professional knowledge by expanding their understanding of how students learn and the structure of the NSW English Syllabus and the effective sequencing of teaching and learning for students.
Professional engagement by participating in learning and professional discussions with colleagues to plan teaching around a school and /or system priority.
This course explores the relationship between the NSW English Syllabus K-6 and the pedagogical framework of modelled, guided and independent teaching strategies. Teachers will consider, their choices of texts as well as the nature of responding and composing. There will be time allocated to create a lesson sequence based on each participant’s own choice of text.

Planning for English
- Using a selected text, each teacher plans for 2-4 days of English
Completing a Teaching Reading and Writing with Quality Texts K-6 - online course will contribute 4 hours of NESA Registered PD addressing: 1.5.2, 2.2.2, 6.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
