This course begins by posing and answering the question, ‘What is grammar?
In session one participants explore what is a sentence and how sentences can be expanded.
Paragraphs, punctuation and the teaching of vocabulary are unpacked in relation to the demands of the NSW English syllabus for each stage K-6.
Grammar within the English syllabus is explained and the importance of teaching grammar within the context of reading and writing lessons is emphasised.
Lastly participants will look at how to program and plan for the teaching of grammar and how to effectively assess student learning.

Completing a Teaching Grammar, Punctuation and Vocabulary for the English K-6 Syllabus - online course will contribute 4 hours of NESA Registered PD addressing: 1.2.2, 2.1.2, 2.2.2, 6.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
