Disasters have significant impacts on both the physical environment as well as the communities in which we live. This webinar will assist teachers to identify the psychological, behavioural, learning and social impacts of disaster on students based on a body of research engaged in by the presenters following the Black Saturday bushfires. Participants will develop an understanding of a stepped care approach to supporting people after a disaster, and develop knowledge and skills in strategies to support students following a traumatic incident.
Date: Wednesday, 5 August 4.00pm - 5.00pm
There is no charge for this Webinar for financial members of the NSW Teachers Federation, but there will be limits on numbers.
Completing a Support student wellbeing after a disaster webinar will contribute 1 hour of NESA Registered PD addressing 6.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW
