The course will begin by identifying, discussing and exploring the 5 Musical Concepts of the NSW K-6 Creative Arts Syllabus – Music, and explore their application in making, listening and talking about music in the classroom. Participants will then be led through the process of utilising group singing as the most accessible vehicle for student musical engagement and learning, with reference to the benefits it brings to own- and cross-cultural understanding, peer learning and cross-curriculum understanding. Participants will gain fundamental skills in group singing leadership and basic group music pedagogy, while engaging in the sharing of experiences and perspectives though facilitated, live discussion.
Time: 9.30am to 2.30pm with 1 hour break - 4hrs

Completing a Learning through song: embedding the K-6 music concepts and achieving syllabus outcomes through group singing - online ourse will contribute 4 hours of NESA Registered PD addressing: 1.1.2, 2.1.2, 3.3.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
