The course will begin by identifying, demonstrating and discussing the recognised, universal physical gestures that facilitate effective ensemble conducting and leading. Participants will then be led through differentiated vocal and instrumental conducting techniques to maximise the discrete qualities and pedagogical benefits of specific group musical cohort types common to the K-6 environment. Finally, the issues and practical considerations of communicating the written music score to ensemble members will be explored, discussed and explained.

Completing a Conducting skills for K-6 school music ensembles - online course will contribute 2 hours 45 minutes of NESA Registered PD addressing:1.1.2, 3.5.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
K-6 classroom teachers with existing or prospective ensemble responsibility and some proficiency in music reading.
