Teaching Reading and Writing K-6 using the NSW English K - 6 Syllabus

Overview

This course is designed for teachers who wish to deepen their knowledge of the NSW English K-6 syllabus. This workshop will engage participants in an examination of syllabus outcomes for reading and viewing and writing and representing.  There will also be an examination of text sets and the key processes of responding and composing. 

Accreditation

Completing a Teaching Reading and Writing K-6 using the NSW English K - 6 Syllabus course will contribute 5 hours of NESA Registered PD addressing 1.5.2, 2.1.2, 2.5.2, 3.2.2, 3.3.2, 5.1.2, 6.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

 

Target Participants

Teachers K-6 who wish to develop a deeper understanding of the NSW English K-6 syllabus.

Delivery

The first session will explore the framework of the English syllabus K-6. This will lead to appropriate pedagogy for teaching reading and writing in early stage one to stage 3. There will be a range of plenary, small group and workshop delivery modes.   Participants will discuss the use of contemporary technologies and the use of interactive planning and programming tools.
